Eight Things 'Family Matters' and 'Vampire Diaries, The' have in common

When we think of the classic late 80s to 90s Family Sitcom and the late 2000s to 2010s Horror Drama, there isn't a comparison that comes to mind. However, when you look back at both TV series, some similarities do arise. This list will prove that despite the different genre and cast, they have things in common.
1. Both shows had a police officer who grew to care about one of the main characters.

Sheriff Forbes and LT. Winslow didn't had much confidence in Damon Salvatore and Steve Urkel, but they grew to trust and forgive them as time went on.
2. Both were on TV for almost ten years.
On September 22, 1989 to May 9, 1997 was 'Family Matters' run of nine seasons and from September 10, 2009 to March 10, 2017 was 'Vampire Diaries, The' run of eight seasons. Both shows had lasted for almost ten years; started in the last year of a decade and finishing prior to the end of another.
3. The female lead character became, befriended and eventually fell in love with the amorous male character she tried to resist.

Even though their were reasons Laura Winslow and Elena Gilbert both should not have given Steve Urkel and Damon Salvatore a chance. They both grew to care for them and forgiven them for their foolish and outlandish ways.
4. Their was a lovely and keen but clingy girlfriend

Both characters were confident, smart and beautiful, but were clingy of the man they felt were destiny for them. Leading to eventual break up, or something worse.
5. Steve Urkel and Damon Salvatore were a fan favorite

There's no question many fans were fond of these two characters for different reason. Both were funny, smart and had their differences. Their were times when they crossed the line which didn't go unnoticed. But we got to see them have a happy ending with the girl they loved.
6. The sexiness and style of Damon and Stefan Urquelle (the alter-ego of Steve Urkel)
Even though the latter in this photo was a science experiment alter-ego to win Laura's heart. We shouldn't deny the attractiveness of both men. Having great style and the looks which explains why many girls were crushing hard.
7. Bonnie Bennett and Laura Winslow deserve respect!

There's no denying the dislike of both characters from fans of both the series. Both were portrayed by actresses who got hate mail for any uncalled for reason. Thankfully, this was addressed and to this day have gotten support and continually so.
8. Both series are still popular to this day.
Even though both series have ended many years ago. We are STILL talking about them and giving our opinions. Proving how they're reached and made viewers of all ages and in various countries.
