Being alone vs being lonely: There IS a difference

Some believe a person being alone and another person being lonely is the same thing. However, both are drastically different. A person who has a life that takes up time will manage to find friends, but rather a small number. While someone whose bitter with their life not being what they want, they'll befriend as many people that come their way. The former finds friends willingly and will calm. The latter will be forcing and manic.

One thing that separates people who prefer to be alone from those who are lonely is their discernment. While lonely people can be clingy and obsessive with befriending anyone without using discernment. Imagine joining a in person or online group. Everybody seems polite and friendly. Only to discover it isn't all that group seems.

People who are lonely will join such a group for the sake of reinforcing their insecurities and bad habits. They're 'keep to themselves' counterparts, would see something is amiss and would avoid. Additionally, there's a big difference in this and support groups as well. Real friends wouldn't be condoning prejudice or toxicity. The opposite would without saying an opposition.

Sometimes, its best to look at both words and think if they do mean the same thing.
